Wabar who formed armed militant soldiers has departured from DJabouti Airport as his destination was America
Hargeisa (The Independent) The dissident Sultan Wabar and his militia have surrendered and officially joined the National Army of Somaliland. Mr Wabar who formed armed militant soldiers has departured from DJabouti Airport as his destination was America. This was confirmed by a traditional leader talking to the BBC Somali. Nearly a year, the militia was hiding the mountainous border between Somaliland and Ethiopia. The Federal Government of Ethiopia had many times vowed they will capture the dissident sultan and his militia and will be extradited to Somaliland. Nonetheless, after the surrender, the militia came across a warm welcome and a highly arranged occasion was held at Abu Qays district – a town between Somaliland and Ethiopia borders. There have been many traditional leaders, army officers, religious clerics at the occasion. On the other hand, the Governor of Awdal region Hon. Saleebaan Mohamoud Ramah and the former vice president of Somaliland Hon. Abdirahman Aw Ali Farah were also at the scene. It was pointed out that all the chaotic operations and disrupts finished in a good mannered way. There had been a bitter war in which many lives were lost. The major cause of this jubilant incident is the long going negotiation between the opposing sides that finally led to this remarkable, historic occasion.
